The job of a fine art photographer is not to take pictures -- it is to capture the hidden truth of life. The difference between a photograph and art is in the way art makes you think and feel differently about something you once thought was familiar.
I have a minimalist style. I like to study a single subject from different angles and experiment with lighting my subjects in different ways. I love taking shots in infrared because the results are both beautiful and haunting. It is powerful for looking "under the skin" of familiar objects, animals, and people.
My mission is not to tell you how to think about the world or even how I think about the world. My mission is to give you the opportunity to explore the world, one small subject at a time while drawing your own conclusions and forming your own interpretations of what you are seeing.
I strive to create a sense of wonder in all of my pictures.
Photography is my creative outlet. It is how I make sense of a senseless world and how I choose to add beauty to a world often filled with ugly emotions.
If my work makes you see light and life in a different way, then I have succeeded. I love to hear from people about how my work makes them feel. Please feel free to send me a message if any of my images have struck you in any way or have stirred up new emotions.
In addition to posting examples of my work on this site, I also regularly share the stories behind my work and methods. Check out my stories to learn more about my process and my passions.
